Being accredited means that our general practice is committed to a comprehensive program which involves:
• Engaging our whole practice team to review our practice’s systems and processes
• Opening our practice doors to allow a team of independent surveyors to assess how our practice operates
• Assessment of our practice, and achievement of the nationally recognised Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) Standards for general practices, that focus on health care quality and patient safety.
As a member of the community you may be surprised to learn that general practice accreditation is a voluntary process – which means not all practices undergo an independent on-site assessment on a regular basis.
Achievement of AGPAL accreditation reassures you that our doctors and practice team are committed to providing you with high quality health care in a safe environment.
Next time you visit our practice be sure to look out for the AGPAL Accredited General Practice Symbol or our accreditation certificate. Our practice team is proud of this achievement and as part of this process we continuously strive to make quality improvements to better your patient experience.
Australian General Practice Accreditation Limited (AGPAL) is a not-for-profit independent provider of general practice accreditation in Australia. To learn more about the benefits of accreditation to you, your family and the Australian community visit www.agpal.com.au.
Can I attend The Doctor House for my routine health care needs?
Yes! It is very important that routine healthcare and chronic disease management is continued despite the current pandemic. Please contact our friendly receptionists to organise your routine appointments.
I have Covid-19 symptoms but have received a negative test. Can I attend the surgery for treatment?
Our doctors are committed to providing care to all members of our community, however, it is important to remember you may be Covid positive despite a previous negative PCR or rapid antigen test. Our doctors are able to provide a video link appointment in the first instance, with an assessment being made as to the severity of your symptoms. We do have the facilities to be able to test patients and provide immediate care to those returning a negative result. Please phone our reception team for further information.
Can I wait for my appointment inside the building?
Yes! Masks are mandatory to enter the building and we encourage all patients to use the QLD check-in and sanitiser stations located at the entrance and at reception. If you have a medical exemption for a mask, please wait in your car and notify reception of your arrival by phone. If you have any symptoms (sore throat, cough, fevers, loss of taste or smell, headaches), please advise reception prior to your appointment and do not enter the building.
Please treat our staff with courtesy and respect as we work to provide the community with safe and comprehensive care.
At The Doctor House we recently carried out a patient survey (Practice Accreditation and Improvement Survey) and asked for your honest opinions on the service we provide. We are very proud to report that 97% of feedback received was either good, very good or excellent.
The team at The Doctor House are always looking for ways to improve our service to the community so we have listened to the concerns raised and have taken the following actions in order to make improvements to patient care where you feel it would most be useful.
Long waiting times for scheduled appointments:
By adding unbookable spaces into our doctor’s diaries, we allow them the time to catch up and improve their punctuality. Reception makes every effort to contact you, the patient, if there is an evident delay in a doctor’s day.
Requests for more comfortable & easier to clean seating in the waiting and consult rooms.
We have had all consult room chairs recovered with an easy to clean vinyl material and as our renovations near completion we will be able to explore the option for alternative seating in the waiting room.
We have also provided more outdoor seating for those of our patients who prefer to wait for appointments outside.
Temperature control in the surgery (heating and cooling).
As part of our renovations, we have upgraded the air conditioning and installed central heating and cooling to the waiting room and reception areas. All consult rooms and the treatment room are fitted with split system air conditioning systems.
*Please note that in the event of community cases of COVID-19 we will not run air conditioning or heating but will run our Cardiff-Air system which flushes fresh air through the building.
Particular décor was identified to be culturally insensitive and upsetting for some patients.
The piece of décor in question has been removed from the waiting room and we sincerely apologise for any distress caused.
